Bill Owen, the man behind MNPCTech.com, has been a member of bit-tech's forums for a long time - he's been a professional case modder for years and, through his online store, he offers a range of modding supplies that many of the world's top modders use extensively in their creations.

When Bill contacted us to ask if we'd check out his latest billet machined aluminium case feet, we gladly obliged. Admittedly, they're not cheap at $30 USD (approximately £20 at the current exchange rate), but then neither were the aluminium case feet I had custom made back in the day when I had the time to mod my own cases.

What's clear is that they're not targeted at Joe Average Gamer - instead, they are aimed at those that want to finish a case mod off with a bit of style and don't have the facilities to make their own feet.

Even today, a lot of the top cases come with relatively mediocre case feet as it's an easy way to save a few dollars along the way. What's more, most DIY computer enthusiasts won't even notice if their shiny new and expensive chassis came fitted with sub-par plastic feet that are going to do more harm than good to your desk.


The way that the case feet were packaged when they arrived at the bit-tech HQ was in a padded envelope that wasn’t much bigger than the product itself. It was simple, practical and most importantly effective enough to protect the feet on their journey across the Atlantic – ATP could take a lesson or two from MNPCTech with regard to ‘green’ packaging!

The feet themselves are incredibly basic in construction too, each one measuring 1.75” in diameter and 7/8” in height. The rubber blocks separate from the aluminium casings quite easily and they come with all the nuts, bolts and washers to attach them to the bottom of your case.

Pleasingly, the billet machined casings are of high quality while the nuts and bolts that have been included in the package haven’t been skimped on either. The design is minimalist but very classy at the same time – each aluminium casing is made from a single piece of metal, which is the reason why they’re not exactly cheap. Each foot has a double ring cut into the metal and that’s it in terms of decoration, so these are certainly designed to fit in, rather than shout 'hey, look at me over here!'.


The feet do have a lot of grip and the rubber doesn't feel like it's going to scratch your desk if you slide your case across your desk without picking it up. We spent a fair amount of time trying to get the rubber feet to mark our desk, but we couldn't make so much as a mark – thoroughness is bit-tech's middle name, after all!

On the downside though, it has to be said that the aluminium scratches incredibly easily. We had a quick go at them with a set of car keys, but experimentation found that you could easily mark them with just a fingernail. With that said this test is a little unrealistic, because case feet are unlikely to take a real beating, of course, but it is something worth bearing in mind.

Verdict: At the end of the day, MNPCTech's billet machined aluminium case feet are a well made and straightforward addition to your case mod. Of course, they're not going to be to everyone's taste and I'm sure some of you would love to have a go at making your own too. However, if you're on the lookout for some higher quality case feet than the ones that came with your chassis then these are more than up to the task!
